This homemade crispy oven bacon is the easiest and most delicious way to make bacon. Cooking bacon in the oven makes perfectly crispy bacon each and every time. It’s also the easiest way to cook off the fat, leaving you with bacon that is a lot healthier and tastes amazing!
When I was growing up, I always looked forward to weekend breakfast. It usually meant that daddy was making Breakfast on Saturday, and my momma would make it on Sundays. Daddy’s Saturday breakfast was simple: He would scramble some eggs, make a bit of grits, and bake biscuits and bacon in the oven. At that time, my daddy was the only one I had ever known to make bacon this way. I was often curious how he got the bacon so crispy every time. Once I became a mom, baking my bacon in the oven also became a breakfast game-changer. What’s not to love about crispy bacon that gives me time back in the kitchen?

Crispy oven bacon is the perfect side to serve with breakfast and brunch recipes like pancakes, waffles, omelets, breakfast casseroles, and so many more. If you have a slab of bacon in the fridge, throw it in the oven to bake, and focus on your eggs instead!
OVEN BACON INGREDIENTS

Bacon – Any bacon will work, but I love thick-cut bacon. Please note that thick-cut bacon may take a bit longer to cook in the oven compared to thinner-sliced bacon.
Baking sheet – I use a half-sheet pan and line it with foil or parchment paper to catch all of the grease.
HOW TO MAKE OVEN BACON
Follow these steps to make this recipe:
Line a sheet-pan with foil or parchment paper and set aside. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, so that it is hot and ready for the bacon.
Line the bacon strips on the sheet-pan, spacing the pieces to allow room to crisp. Place the bacon in the preheated oven and allow it to bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until it is crispy and brown.

Remove the bacon from the oven, blot the bacon with a paper towel to sop up any extra grease. Transfer the bacon to a platter and drain the remaining grease from the pan.

PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE
- The bacon. If you don’t eat pork, swap the pork bacon with turkey or beef bacon instead. Just be mindful of the cooking times, as turkey and beef bacon may cook faster due to their lack of fat content.
- Flavor it. Make this bacon special by adding a little bit of brown sugar, cayenne pepper, or a little cracked black pepper on top before baking.
- Save the grease. If you are like me, then you are saving this grease! I keep the grease around for other recipes, just like my mamma and granny did. Don’t be afraid to use the bacon grease to sauté veggies, make hot-water cornbread, and more. Remember that a little goes a long way!
