This homemade crispy oven bacon is the easiest and most delicious way to make bacon. Cooking bacon in the oven makes perfectly crispy bacon each and every time. It’s also the easiest way to cook off the fat, leaving you with bacon that is a lot healthier and tastes amazing!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb smoked bacon, diced

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 16 oz fresh tomatoes, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar

  • 2 tsp apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tsp olive oil

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ¼ tsp cayenne

  • Pinch white pepper

Directions

  • Heat 1 tsp of olive oil in a skillet or saucepan
  • Add oil and fry the bacon. Cook bacon until crispy, then transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain.
  • Remove all but 1 tbsp of the oil grease from the pan, then add the onions.
  • Cook the onions for about 10 minutes until softened and caramelized.
  • Add the diced tomato, cooked bacon, garlic, spices, vinegar, salt, and sugars.
  • Stir everything well and bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer for 30 – 45 minutes, stirring about every 10 minutes or so until thickened.
  • Remove from heat and serve.
