This smoothie is a naturally sweetened way to start the day. A delicious, protein-packed smoothie made with chocolate, banana, and almond butter. This recipe is made with only a handful of ingredients and is ready in five minutes!
Homemade smoothies are a quick and healthy choice to start the day. I always feel like I have more energy whenever I have a smoothie for breakfast. Smoothies are an excellent way to get essential vitamins and nutrients in your daily diet without sacrificing a lot of time. This chocolate banana smoothie is delicious, satisfying, and perfect for busy days when there isn’t time for a big breakfast. This smoothie has been one of my favorite recipes to make for years. It’s thick, creamy, and reminds me of a chocolate milkshake, but without the guilt.
This smoothie is perfect for any time of day, whether it be lunch, dinner, dessert, or whenever you are craving something chocolatey. Try topping this smoothie with fresh fruit, chopped nuts, or shredded coconut for an even tastier treat the whole family will enjoy!

HOW TO MAKE CHOCOLATE BANANA SMOOTHIE
Follow these steps to make this recipe:
- Blend: Load the blender with the coconut water, almond butter, coconut oil, cacao powder, and banana. Blend on low speed, then ramp up to high speed and blend until thick.
- Divide and Top: Divide the smoothie between two glasses, then top with banana slices.
PRO TIPS FOR MAKING THIS RECIPE
- Load the ingredients correctly. This helps prevent air pockets from forming around the blender’s blade, which could cause the blender to stall, resulting in a smoothie with a chunky consistency. For smoother, completely blended smoothies, be sure to add the ingredients in the correct order.
- The fruit. You can buy frozen bananas, but I prefer to utilize leftover ripe bananas and then freeze them for smoothies. This helps me reduce food waste by giving my older, leftover fruit a new life.
- Toppings. Some of my favorite ways to top this smoothie include adding shredded coconut, chopped nuts, fresh fruit, and cacao nibs. You can go wrong no matter how you top it!
