Rice Vinegar – Any brand will work. I have also used apple cider vinegar in a pinch on a few occasions.

Pineapple juice – Adds a sweet and tangy flavor to the sauce making it downright addicting.

Sambal oelek – If you can’t find this, look for roasted red chili paste which is sold in most grocery stores.

Ginger– I like using freshly grated ginger, but you can also use pre-grated ones found in typical grocery stores.

Sugar -granulated sugar, but cane sugar or brown sugar also works too

Soy sauce– Any brand will work in this recipe.

Garlic – 1 tsp of fresh garlic

HOW TO MAKE SWEET CHILI SAUCE

Follow these simple steps to make homemade Sweet Chili Sauce:

  1. Make the Sauce – Place all of the ingredients in a saucepan except for the cornstarch slurry. Mix it well to combine, then bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly. Allow the mixture to cook for 2-3 minutes, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Continue to stir until the mixture is thickened, then turn off the stove and remove it from the heat. The mixture will continue to thicken as it cools.
  2. Serve – Serve Sweet Chili Sauce with whatever you like! My favorite and one of the most common appetizers to serve this sauce with is Coconut Shrimp 🙂
