CAN YOU MAKE STRAWBERRY SWEET TEA AHEAD?

This is absolutely a make ahead recipe! Just pop your pitcher of tea in the fridge and serve when ready. As a matter of fact I recommend that you allow this drink to sit in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours minimum. By doing so you will have a perfectly chilled beverage.

STRAWBERRY SWEET TEA INGREDIENTS

Black Tea – Any brand will do. No need to run out and buy fancy black tea, unless you want to.

Strawberries – Fresh strawberries are preferred. If using frozen strawberries, allow to thaw before using in the puree.

Sugar – I love using pure cane sugar, but granulated sugar works just fine!

Lemon – The juice of one lemon is added to balance out the sweet and tart flavors making this a very fresh and vibrant sweet tea.

HOW TO MAKE STRAWBERRY SWEET TEA

  1. Puree the strawberries: Rinse and clean the strawberries, remove the tops, then pulse in the blender until smooth.
  2. Make the strawberry sauce: Add the strawberries and sugar to a saucepan, mix well to combine, and cook for 5 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to cool before adding to the tea.
  3. Brew the tea: Bring 3 cups of water to a boil, then add the tea bags and steep for 10 minutes. Remove the tea bags, then add the sugar, while the tea is still warm. Stir well until the sugar has dissolved. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
  4. Make the sweet tea: In a large pitcher, add the tea mixture, remaining water, lemon juice, and the strawberry mixture. Stir all the ingredients well to combine. Place the tea in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  5. Serve: Remove the pitcher of tea from the fridge and serve over ice.
